Many spiritual cleansing practices use salt, smoke, crystals, or herbs. You don’t need them. With focused attention, breath, and visualization, you move your own energy through your body, chakras, and energy field without preparing a bath or burning sage or palo santo.
Spiritual cleansing takes energy. When you’re depleted, there’s less force behind the exercise. The first two practices replenish Yin from Mother Earth and Yang from the Sun. The other three cleanse the energy field and balance the chakras. Choose the one that fits the moment rather than performing all five together.
1. From Tailbone to Earth: Build the Grounding Current
Grounding connects you to Mother Earth and brings in Yin, the receptive current that stabilizes your energy.
Morning is ideal. Bare feet on the earth strengthen the connection. Indoors is fine, and your floor doesn’t matter. The stream passes through the building whether you’re on the first floor or the twentieth.
How to do it
- Sit on a chair, a bench, or the ground. Close your eyes and focus on the root chakra at your tailbone.
- Visualize a stream of golden energy extending downward from your tailbone. If you’re inside a building, see it passing through the floor and every level beneath you before entering the earth. Direct it to the energetic center of the Earth rather than picturing the planet’s physical layers.
- On one steady inhale, pull Earth energy upward along the same stream. Move it through your root chakra, up your spine, through your head, and toward your eyes. Keep the movement quick but controlled.
- As soon as the energy reaches your eyes, open them and exhale as you shoot it far into the distance. A window gives you a clear point to aim toward, though it isn’t essential.
- Close your eyes and begin again.
The full movement down to the center of the Earth, back through the spine, and out through the eyes counts as one repetition. Start with three. Build gradually to seven, then nine, and eventually twenty-one as the movement becomes familiar.
The energy moves quickly; your body doesn’t. Remain still while sitting. If your head starts spinning or you feel uncomfortable, stop and use fewer repetitions next time. Stay seated for a moment when you finish, then stand up slowly.

2. Connect to the Sun: Bring In the Yang Current
Once you’ve replenished Yin, balance it with Yang, the active solar energy that brings movement and force.
This doesn’t depend on direct sunlight or a clear sky. Solar energy remains available indoors, under cloudy skies, and after sunset.
How to do it
- Stand upright with your feet slightly apart. Relax your arms and turn both palms upward.
- Close your eyes, visualize the Sun clearly, and establish a mental connection with it.
- See your crown chakra open into a wide funnel above your head.
- As you inhale, take in solar energy through the funnel and your crown.
- As you exhale, feel it spread through your body and warm you from within.
- Continue this rhythm for two or three minutes. Then lower your hands and open your eyes.

3. The Energy Burst: Clear Your Energy Field in Three Breaths
The burst drives your energy outward through the entire energy field and far beyond it.
Do it in the evening, especially before sleep, to clear residue gathered throughout the day. It’s also useful after a draining conversation, time in a crowded place, or an intense encounter.
How to do it
- Stand with your shoulders relaxed. Keep your eyes open or close them, whichever makes the visualization clearer.
- Take a deep inhale. Focus on the energy throughout your entire body.
- Exhale in a firm, continuous breath. At the same moment, visualize the energy erupting from every cell in one powerful blast.
- See the blast cross your energy field and race for miles in every direction, like a sudden sphere erupting from your body and expanding through the surrounding space.
- Return to a normal breath for a moment, then repeat twice more, for three Energy Bursts in total.
The burst removes loose energetic residue and imprints that haven’t anchored deeply in the energy field.

4. The Chakra Shower: Clear All Seven at Once
The Chakra Shower clears and balances all seven chakras together.
How to do it
- Stand with your feet planted and your arms relaxed. Close your eyes and visualize yourself stepping into a shower booth.
- Replace the water with colored light pouring from the ceiling and all four walls, like a modern shower with an overhead stream and jets along the sides.
- Fill the booth with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet light.
- Let the light reach you from every direction. See it washing over your body and flowing through your chakras and energy field.
- Keep the colors moving together without arranging them in an order or aiming them at exact points. Each chakra receives its corresponding color.
- Remain inside the colored light for several minutes. Then let it fade and open your eyes.

5. When You Don’t Feel Like Yourself: Bring In the White Light
Your thoughts cloud over, your energy drops, or an unfamiliar mood settles in and remains after rest. This is when you use white light.
Physically, natural white light contains the complete visible spectrum, with every color from red to violet held together. In spiritual practice, that full spectrum moves through the entire energy field rather than focusing on one chakra. For this exercise, the current comes from the Creator and purifies, replenishes, and fills the energy body.
How to do it
-
Sit or stand and close your eyes.
-
Visualize yourself standing a short distance ahead as a transparent silhouette.
-
Create an opening at the crown chakra of the silhouette.
-
Visualize brilliant white light pouring in from above, entering through the crown, and filling the silhouette.
-
Let it move downward through the head, throat, chest, abdomen, pelvis, legs, and feet.
-
Continue until no transparent or unlit areas remain. Increase the brightness and density until the entire silhouette is full.
-
Let the brightness expand beyond the silhouette and across the inner screen behind your closed eyes. Continue until everything you see there becomes white.
-
State:
“I clear my energy field of all residue and release everything that doesn’t belong to me. White light fills my energy body and restores its natural state.”
-
Hold the completed visualization briefly, then release it and open your eyes.

When Self-Cleansing Isn’t Enough
Self-cleansing doesn’t always show whether you’re dealing with residue, a deeper imprint, or an attachment. Symptoms sometimes ease before the influence itself clears, so immediate relief doesn’t confirm removal.
If the same drop in energy, clouded thinking, or unfamiliar mood returns, a deeper influence remains active. It has anchored to a chakra, settled elsewhere in the energy field, or stayed open through an ongoing connection.
That’s when an energy-field checkup makes sense.
